At SpringHill, we want to provide you with skills that will assist in achieving your goals and help you step into the future job God has for you. 
 
Choose from internships in nonprofit leadership, marketing, and behavorial intervention. 

Nonprofit Leadership

As a non-profit leadership intern, you will have hands-on experience facilitating a SpringHill experience as a counselor, activity leader or other related position. You will have direct connection with professionals who have studied and work in non-profit sectors and get a deeper understanding of how SpringHill operates through an interactive online classroom experience. Through this internship our hope is that you walk away with a greater appreciation of non-profit organizational structure, facilitation and leadership. 

 

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of SpringHill 
  • Experience leading children or peers 
  • Must have completed 1 full year of college 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older 
  • Capacity for basic computer learning & access to a computer 
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively & remain highly organized 

 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Learn to work on a team, communicate effectively, and complete tasks 
  • Learn about an organization’s identity and the importance of mission and core values  
  • Identify the importance of each position for healthy organizational structure 
  • Lead teams by building interpersonal skills and learning motivational techniques 
  • Learn healthy business practices for successful non-profit leadershiprelationship buildingcost-benefit analysis, marketing strategies and budgeting
  • Understand the non-profit financial outlook from fundraising efforts to operations budgets 

 

Hands-on Experience

  • Daily leadership practice with group of kids or young adults
  • Practice decision-making in rapidly changing circumstances
  • Interact with many different organizational stakeholders
  • Observe fundraising campaigns, marketing campaigns and relational sales strategies
  • Opportunity to ask questions of leaders with significant nonprofit management experience

 

Supplemental Learning

In order to more richly relate daily experiences to your field of study we have prepared a series of online modules that give a wider window into SpringHill operations.

  • Strategic goal setting
  • Organizational identity and purpose
  • Importance of organizational structure
  • Interpersonal understanding and motivational techniques
  • Nonprofit facilitation and strategic relationship formation
  • Ethics and common ethical dilemmas
  • Updating your resume and cover letter

 

Typical Week

  • Update goals and formulate action plan for the week. Complete relevant supplemental learning to prepare for the week
  • Engage with theme and apply the principles while completing your summer role working with kids or leaving staff
  • One-on-one meeting with your internship supervisor
  • Wrap up the week by reflecting on your experience

 

Supervision

  • One-on-one conversations and mentoring with a nonprofit professional
  • Daily coaching and supervision by SpringHill leadership
  • Evaluations during and after summer based on your performance

Behavioral Intervention

As a behavioral intervention intern, you will have hands-on experience working one on one with children with special needs. You will have direct connection with professionals experienced in special education and gain a deeper understanding of how inclusion enriches experiences through an interactive online classroom experience. Through this internship our hope is that we equip you with various behavioral intervention strategies that help you facilitate excellent, inclusive experiences. 

 

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children with physical and behavioral needs 
  • Must have completed 1 full year of college  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older 
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively 
  • Flexibility and adaptability 

 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Learn to work on a team, communicate effectively, and complete tasks 
  • Understanding and implementing an organization’s approach to physical and behavioral needs
  • Leading an inclusive experience for kids with special needs 
  • Evaluating and assessing needs and building an Individualized Camp Program (ICP) tailored to successfully meet each kid’s unique needs 
  • Utilizing different techniques, processes and plans to best serve children with special needs 
  • Increasing resilience through overcoming barriers while learning flexibility to adapt to changing situations 
  • Building trusting relationships that allow for personal growth and achievement

 

Hands-on Experience

  • Facilitate a new 1-week inclusive experience for a camper with special needs
  • Meet regularly with the inclusion team to debrief campers and situations
  • Evaluate and assess your child’s needs prior to the week of camp
  • Create an individualized camp program for each child you serve
  • Opportunity to ask questions of leaders who are experts in behavioral intervention

 

Trainings

You will be fully equipped for your summer as a Behavioral Intervention Intern through the following trainings

  • Strategic goal setting
  • History and philosophy of SpringHill inclusion
  • Identifying and understanding needs
  • Tools for creating inclusive experiences

 

Supplemental Learning

  • Updating your resume and cover letter 

 

Typical Week

  • Update goals and formulate action plan for the week
  • Prepare an individualized plan for your camper
  • Work to include your camper in group activities throughout the week
  • One-on-one meeting with your internship supervisor
  • Wrap up the week by reflecting on your experience

 

Supervision

  • One-on-one conversations and mentoring with an expert in behavioral intervention
  • Daily coaching and supervision by SpringHill leadership
  • Evaluations during and after summer based on your performance

Marketing

As a marketing intern, you will have hands-on experience implementing SpringHill’s marketing strategy, work directly with SpringHill’s Marketing Director and gain a deeper understanding of how collaboration and healthy team dynamics are a critical part of the success of marketing. Through this internship our hope is that you leave with skills in marketing and branding. 

 

Qualifications

  • Marketing and design experience & academic aspirations 
  • Must have completed 3 full years of college  
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively 
  •  

Learning Outcomes 

  • Learn to work on a team, communicate efficiently, and complete projects 
  • Understand how to express an organization’s brand through various mediums 
  • Learn to communicate marketing content consistently & concisely 
  • Identify marketing tools and how to use them - social media, email, print, design 
  • Capture moments from the summer and help create a year-round marketing plan 
  • Understand and communicate with many different stakeholders 

 

Hands-on Experience

  • Daily collaboration with the marketing director to create marketing materials
  • Work with SpringHill’s marketing + customer experience partners - DesignVox and Brightformat
  • Contribute to social media campaigns and manage responses
  • Complete projects as assigned by the marketing director
  • Craft messaging to appeal to different SpringHill stakeholders
  • Opportunity to ask questions of leaders who are marketing experts

 

Typical Week

  • Weekly team meeting to update goals and track projects
  • Work on projects in close collaboration with marketing director and other interns
  • Travel to camp locations as needed
  • One-on-one meeting with marketing director
  • Wrap up the week by reflecting on your experience

 

Supervision

  • One-on-one conversations with SpringHill Marketing Director
  • Evaluations during and after summer based on your performance
